Home Prep Guide

A well-prepped home photographs bigger, brighter, and more inviting — and that translates directly to faster bookings or stronger offers.

  • Lighting – Turn on all lights, replace burnt bulbs, and keep bulb colors consistent.

  • Windows & Blinds – Open blinds/curtains to let in natural light.

  • Declutter & Personal Items – Hide family photos, paperwork, laundry, toiletries, and remotes/cords.

  • Surfaces & Cleanliness – Vacuum, dust, wipe counters, polish floors, and empty trash.

  • Furniture & Décor – Straighten rugs/chairs, fluff pillows/blankets, and keep décor simple.

  • Kitchen & Dining – Clear counters (leave 1–2 décor items), empty sink/dishwasher, and set the table simply or leave clean.

  • Bedrooms – Make beds neatly, tuck away clothing, clear nightstands, and check under the bed.

  • Bathrooms – Close toilet lids, remove toiletries, hang fresh matching towels, and shine mirrors/fixtures.

  • Exterior – Mow/sweep, remove cars/trash bins/tools, and stage outdoor furniture neatly.

  • Final Touches – Have the property ready 30 minutes early, remove/pet-manage animals, limit people on-site, and add small welcoming touches for rentals (coffee tray, local guidebook, etc.).
